Protect PDF files

Sharing a document usually means trusting everyone in the chain. Password protection removes that doubt: encrypt a file with a strong AES-256 password so only people who know it can open it, or strip protection from a document you already have the password for and are ready to share freely. Both operations happen entirely on your device — the password you type is used in the browser tab and never sent anywhere, and the file itself is never uploaded in either direction. It takes seconds, costs nothing, and works on any PDF. Pick a tool below to lock or unlock your document.

Frequently asked questions

Is the password protection real AES-256 encryption?

Yes. Protect PDF encrypts the whole document with AES-256, the same standard used for sensitive files worldwide. The password you type is used locally and is never transmitted anywhere.

Can I remove a password without knowing it?

No. Unlock PDF requires the correct password and simply strips the protection from a file you are allowed to open. It does not attempt to crack or bypass unknown passwords.
